How to find out who is calling from blocked and private calls.
This video shows that it is entirely possible to find out who is calling you from a blocked phone number. It’s not an easy method and for someone without some technical know how, but pretty useful indeed. It involves using Asterisk and a SIP Trunk. For some of you this might be a fun project to try out, you will learn all about VOIP and PBXs.
Also of note: By using a third party caller spoofing service, your phone number will NOT show up if someone is using this method. By allowing your call to be placed on your behalf and connected to you with one of these services, your anonymity remains intact because only the real number of services’ outbound line would show up…if anything at all.

In the past when I’ve received a call from a private number on my cell, I would press options as though I was going to add as a contact even though it said “Private. If you have to make up a name for the “Private#” do so. Sometimes before or sometimes after pressing “done” the number would usually attach. On some of my older cell phones I had really good luck. Now I have an iphone and I haven’t figured it out. I’m sure not all phones will do this, certain models of Motorola’s worked for me. I don’t know if it was that brand or if AT&T service had something to do with it, but I never had anything special added to my older phones/service.
